The journey to creating iCare4u was a very personal one for me. In 2005, I was diagnosed with cancer. It changed everything but in a way I had not expected.
I began to see, first hand, the effect my illness was having on those I loved around me. They wanted to help so badly, but they weren’t quite sure what to do, or how. I needed their help, but I was too embarrassed to ask for it.
Talking to others battling illnesses, I knew I was not alone in my frustration. There was a desperate need for communication and connection. As a patient, support from loved ones would be critical in healing, and as a friend or family member of a patient, giving them an outlet to be able to provide that support would enable them to feel connected, useful, present. This is the heart of iCare4u.
